Found this at an old fair grounds in se. Wisconsin. Thought it was a fat indian, but I was wrong. 8 inches deep and my fifth gold find this year. 14K chain with 1867 3 dollar gold attached.

Outstanding! I have never heard of a three dollar gold being found. Congrats, I second the motion for a better picture so we can get a better look.

Is the coin in a bezel, or is the little ring soldered onto the coin?

Yeah bezel? Use macro if you are not, or if you have it on your cam.

Probably was shaking to bad to get a good pic with any camera.
 
That's a GREAT find. What does the sanded and engraved side say, or can you read it?
