In your initial post you had the pic of the button, now it's gone and edited by someone else one hour ago? Was this a moderator? So the ID of this button is still in question then?

"I have been hunting around this old Stone farmhouse for about 4 day's now with my new E-Trac, and have found some great coins at Thia site. I live outside of Baltimore in a very historic area. I found this large Flat Button "very deep" that may have some significant historical value. If anyone can shed some light on this it would be appreciated. Here is what I know. The "Great Seal" was designed in 1782. This button with the Great Seal has "7 stars". Maryland was the 7th state in 1788.

As it turned out some also new of that house and is looking to hunt it.

Ok, I can't say I blame them but I can say I don't blame you even more in protecting it. In thinking about it most of us don't think twice about posting a locality of where we hunted. Would we post it though if we found a gold bar or a silver bar. I don't think anyone in his right mind would. I know in briefly reading about nugget hunting in Australia because that is something that I would love to do and I think with a good detector like the ML GPX 4500 and some funds on hand to give it like 6 months you could make a good living at it if you researched it well, got a good guide and hustled every day. They estimate that their is $500,000,000,000 still left in gold to discover in Australia! I mention this because I have read stories of people just having a MD label or similar on their vehicle and they just go quickly into a store and bang, window is smashed out and their MD's are gone. They tell you never leave your vehicle unattended. Never tell your gold finds and be very discreet on how you carry yourself. It's a thrilling hobby but we are dealing with fellow human beings and some people will barge into your personal space and some will just outright steal from you. My motto is,"Never trust anyone" I'm not implying that most people on here are thieves because I am sure they are not and work hard for a living but their are a small minority that debase this hobby of ours. You know the knuckleheads that don't cover their holes, don't pick up the trash and don't even bother to ask permission to hunt someones private property. I am rambling now but I think you get my point ...
