Does anyone know what these are? I've dug a bunch of these this year.Mostly in fields. The ones with holes in the top are about 3/4" dia. and all are threaded. They are brass. The large ones look like they could be cane tops maybe.

I've found several of those small ones you have. It looks like there is a hole on the side of at least one. Mine was the same way. I was told they would put these on the end of cow and ox horns to make them safer. The hole on the side was used for a set screw to keep it attached to the horn. I just spent 10 minutes trying to google the technical name for it with no luck. I was told they are ox knobs.

Agree on the ox horn tips. Probably 19th c. Don't know about the longer ones. I have a couple of them too. -Dan
