If PI s aren't affected by mineralization or salt water, then why...

isn't it always possible to run the Goldquest at "full-throttle" (10 uS) on every beach? "My" beach appears to have very little black sand, (some, but very thin) but the 10uS results in too unstable a threshold.
Not being a "devil's advocate", just trying to get a better understanding of PI s, in general.

Thank-you for the informative reply. Yes, I have noticed the salt concentration variations in the wet sand on different days--even though I'm not going into the water.
I had no idea, however, that 10uS would cause the PI to sense the salt as a target.
Basically, I'm trying to get the most usable depth out of the Goldquest.
Since I've never used a PI detector before, I have nothing like it to compare to.
