Iffy targets

I went hunting Friday and dug a barber and a seated dime,I hunt in Iron mask -16 advanced smart ferrous.The dimes didn't give a good signal the box went to the right side at the top and bounced around all over even to the middle and the sound was not like a solid silver coin,every once in a while it would go to a good silver signal.My question is were those dimes on edge or masked out by trash.

There will always be surprises...the thought of not knowing...or wondering if I should have dug that last target kills me...so I dig it.. helps me sleep at night!! and great exersize!!!

I would hate to detect behind me...Clean as a fresh yard of topsoil!!!

Could look like this...My first ever Barber dime had a bottle cap over the top of it that was completly corroded through & fell apart except for the plastic when I pulled it out...I'm trying to adopt Scully's technique of just digging everything
