Illinois State Button & Connecticut Copper

I went back to the wooded area where I found the seated dime 2 weeks ago. This spot has produced well in the past couple years re colonial coins & artifacts.
This time I turned up a CT copper and an Illinois State button.
The button has the Illinois state seal and is brass with an iron backing (rusted out). I figure it's probably post Civil War because of the iron backing ( maybe 1880's?) Any help with dating it would be appreciated.
