Hello Joe,
You are probably lonely right now with your wife away and therefore you are feeling depressed! But start talking to Jesus and telling Him all about your troubles and He will take care of and uplift you up above the shadows! Depression is terrible and if you have it for very long, I suggest you see a doctor and get some meds to help.....like anti-depressants, for as long as your mind isn't working like it should, you will be viewing the sadder side of life! I know, as I've been there and still take meds so my mind can be able to think and give Praise to God and Thanks to Jesus for all that He has done for me! Also, maybe there is a good Christian friend, who can help you by talking and giving you some scriptures to cheer you up and to be able to see more of the light of Christ in your life!
I'm sure when your wife gets back and things get back to more normal living without immpending care of an ill person or death of a loved one, everything will look brighter and happier for you! But like I said, if your depression keeps going on and you are unable to cope like you should, then get help! First from Jesus, By saying: Help me, Jesus! and then help from drs and meds!
I've done both and I am doing much, much better than I was in the past! I have my brother with me now and he helps me to not be so lonely and depressed, for we are company for each other! I give praise and honor to my Lord and thank Him for the good word to help me overcome in all things! Jesus is the Living Word, so lean on and trust in Him, as He will never leave nor forsake you!
He says: Draw nearer to Him and He will draw nearer to you and when in His warm, comfortable and loving presence then satan will have been defeated! The old devil wants you and will do everything he can to get you on his side and lost forever, but speak the Word of God and chase him back into the darkness where he belongs!
You can also do what AZ Steve said and that is get busy doing something you like to do and if it is detecting, GO! If it is something else that is not against obeying God than do it! Give your wife a big HUG, KISS and tell her you love her and missed her when she is able to get back home and be company for you!
Welcome to the Forum and hope you stay with us and post often!
God Bless!
