More Quattro Update...Saw It Do Something Amazing Today.

I seem to be one of the few Quattro owners hunting and posting right now, so hopefully there are those that want to read what I have to say. I've received several emails asking me questions about the Quattro so just tell me to shut up if I'm boring you.
I was out at the beach today with my buddy Jack who has a Fisher CZ-7a Pro. And let me say that I love Fisher CZ's, by the way...I also own a CZ-70. And I have often said that if I could have only ONE machine, the CZ would be it. Great at the beach, great relic, deep silver-sucker...an all-around winner. And I have dug some deep coins with mine, as has Jack, both at the beach and in the woods and fields. So I was pretty impressed (as was he) with what happened today on the beach with my Quattro.
I was running the Quattro in Coin and Jewelry mode with the sensitivity in manual...I had it cranked to "19" on the scale of 1 to 20. It was operating just fine at that level, hunting stable with a slight threshold hum. I had it on 20 earlier, but it can get a tad "itchy" down in the shallow water at 20 and since I was in and out of the water I was running 19 and it was good. So I get a signal in the wet sand...it was kind of high up in the wet sand, like damp sand. It was showing at the limit of the depth meter...over 12" is all you know in that case. And the signal was broken, but definitely sounded good because it was bouncing around between like 30 and 38, which would indicate a coin between penny and quarter. And it was DEEP, so the signal was weak. I told Jack "Hey man, check this signal, see what you get." He came over...I hadn't started digging yet. I moved way out of his way and let him sweep it. NO SIGNAL AT ALL. He tried from every angle and then cranked his sensitivity to max and still no signal. He tried pinpointing it, no dice. He suggested maybe it was iron. I said I didn't think so because the Quattro will "null out" on iron in this mode and go silent and it wasn't doing that. I started digging. When my hole was a foot deep I was no getting a much better signal. It was still off from a solid 38 (quarter) but it was hitting 38 a lot. I said that it was either a quarter or a crushed up can or something. He tried it again with the CZ and now got a single blip off of it but not repeatable and not something you would dig. I continued to dig. After much digging and finally at a depth of about 18 inches deep I reswept the hole and it was gone. I swept the pile and got a solid 38. I checked the pile and I had a very tarnished quarter. We were both pretty darn impressed.
That's the story for the day...no great finds to report, though I did dig several foot-deep holes and came up with a little clad but the beach is mostly CLEAN and sanded in real bad. We saw Grave Digger Max down there with his Explorer II and his luck was about the same. It's going to be GREAT when some stuff starts moving! Happy hunting...
