AM mode on the 2500. A friend and I have been hunting
a CSA campsite hard for the last month or so. It is
a small site and we have detected to the point that
everything is now very deep and beyond reach of the
MXT's and the stock coil. The ground is dry and
hard as a brick, it's red clay, white clay, and different mixes. Enter the 2500, zero discrimination
mode and managed to pull out 2 good targets. Then
that mode went quite as a mouse, nothing. I went to
AM, turned the sensitivity up to 11 and started.
The 4 other targets were elevated audio, but not much.
I switched to zero discrimination, nothing, back to
AM and the targets are there. What is equally
impressive was that the ID was correct on 2 of the
targets, and it jumped around on the other 2, from
the middle to the extreme right. Imaging was correct
almost every time on the size and depth. On the
AM targets only, depth was at a minimum of 8 inches.
Sorry to ramble but thought you'd like to hear
about the Green Machine. Best to all, Richardntn

How right you are. Have you tried that spot with the 12" coil yet? <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">

They are keepers. Most people who buy one know what they have and don't want to give up such a powerful machine.

i purchased mine used after dad died he had a couple of whites detectors laying around so i took them to jerrys treasure den and traded them and i gave him 100 bucks i got a nearly new 2500 with 4 mos of warranty left and the 9 and the 12 coils

Good luck with your new toy. Hope you find lots of goodies.

I've been thinking of selling mine. Last time I hunted with it, I had to quit after only 3 hours of hunting cause my arm was worn out, whereas I can hunt with the 9.5 inch coil all day long.
A GTI with the 12.5 coil on it is even heavier than a Minelab Explorer.

did you take the battery pack off and put it on yer belt? that will lighten it up some . i agree the 2500 is a heavy unit but man, i feel like darth vader rooting out rebels with the dam thing. lol i mean power!!!

Mine is getting a lot of mileage on her. Worn out armrest pads, wobbly stem, battery packs loose, but man do I dig the lead. Dug 9 Merril carbines the other day with it. I switch back and forth between zero and all metal.

Ask Bill what he uses to alleviate swinging the heavy coil or check my web site. Only a few left.

I have just purchased a GTI 2500 and I need to know if the factory settings work on Canadian coins. I am new at this hobby and have done the bench test for the past week and it does not work as the manual states. I was told it was set for US coins. Can someone out there tell me what the settings would be to find Canadian coins
I appreciate any help
David

It is programmed to ID American coins. One of our Canadian friends will have to fill you in on this one. Good luck.
Bill

I own the Gti 2500 and hunt with it in Canada. It is programmed to perfectly identify U.S coins, but it is a bit off when hunting canadian currency. This is what I do; I do an air test on just say a quarter. I take an early quarter prior to 1960 and a recent quarter and scan them and make a note on there location on the id screen. I do this with every denomination of our currency and then go to the custom mode and program my coin readings to create a custom coin mode. It works perfectly, and I know if it alerts and images on a coin size object, it 95% of the time is a coin! I usually use the 12.5" coil most of the time for some extra depth, I have no problem picking up dimes and items smaller. I love the machine and Ive had no problems.

If "SHE" was a "HE", would you still be saying that...... <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

Thanks, I will play with the detector this weekend and do what you have suggested.
David

Richard,
If you have access, try using a pulse induction. I found its much deeper and really likes lead and relics. Just a thought! Joe in St Marys,Ga.
