I'm looking for a home defense 12ga. shotgun. 18 inch barrel. If anyone has one they'd like to sell at a right price, let me know. :clapping:

here Rick for a start.

Mossberg 500 or the long-established classic Remington 870 12 gauge, either one will do what you need it to Rick, defend with power!

The Remington has been manufactured for 55 years. There are literally millions of them in circulation, most of which are 12 gauge. They are not inclined to wear out in honest use, takes dedicated abuse to put one down if you can. If you already own a sporting 870, you can get a short, interchangeable barrel for it out of the Midway catalog for as little as $99.99. A quick barrel swap turns your bird gun into a close-range home-defense tool.

When I get back from Michigan I'll be getting a Remington 870 12 gauge to complement my Kimber pro carry .45 :clapping:

The Mossberg 500 with a pistol grip or I've even found a Winchester 1300 with an 18 inch barrel that looks sweet! I'd love a remington but we'll see what pops up. Not in a hurry and I'm extremely patient when it comes to spending money! Thanks for the input.

You can really beef up a shotgun with the cool stuff and ammo you can get on line. There a good meat seeking home defence arm.http://www.angelfire.com/art/enchanter/Shotguns.html

I've had Remington 870's, Winchester model 97s and model 12's, all great guns. But in my humble opinion the best shotgun ever designed, particularly for self defence in a pump action is John Browning's design incorporated into the Ithaca model 37. I have two of these (8 shot, plus one in the chamber). I have the "D.S.Police Speicials" (Slam Fire*) *a feature that used to be incorporated into older shot guns, where as one can hold the trigger down and continue to fire the gun as long as you continue to pump the action. Maybe not a feature you would want to use a lot but I can fire off nine shots in about four seconds accurately at close range.... there should not be anything in front of you but air after that. The shotgun loads and ejects from the bottom.
