the paper towel I've been using to set my finds on after rinsing them. Yes, I realize that the title of this post is ridiculous and misleading.

Yesterday I found a silver ring on my first dig. Today I had to wait until my third dig. I was in an old park around 7 am this morning and I had parked in a church parking lot. The caretaker of the park was sitting on his mower and smoking a big cigar so I asked if I could detect. He said sure and I quizzed him on the parks history then off I went. When it got close to worship time, I went to leave and was approached and told not to detect on church grounds which were private. I guess part of what I thought was the park actually belonged to the church. I told him I thought I was still in the park and apologized. He told me if I'd asked permission he would have let me detect but since I hadn't I should leave. I did. It was an honest mistake as there were folks fishing and dog walking on church land too all of whom had parked in the church lot. I'm going to write a letter of apology to the congregation because the guy seemed genuinely upset with me. I drove down the street to the school and went for three hours finding no more rings.

Chris

Here's the ring. 925 and onyx.

nice looking ring Chris :clapping: sorry to hear about your ejection off a prime hunting area that sucks. you may wish to check with the local council as to were the park ends & the church starts as some people get on a high horse & think they own public as well as privet property :detecting:

Naw I was on the church property. The property line is a creek and I was on the wrong side. My fault.

As you've already apologized Chris, I wouldn't take it any further. All you would be doing, is giving them the ability to prosecute you if they have a bee in their bonnet about it.
Nice ring.
Mick Evans.

it is about time, that thing was starting to look pretty bad. but that ring looks pretty nice.
