In between the rains.....

I spent a couple hours detecting a very small area at the local "pull tab park" with my Etrac and the small butterfly coil. Nice thing about rain is that it makes the digging easier, the grass don't turn brown and those deep signals come through much more distinctly. Other than a half dozen broken pull tabs, a couple aluminum screw caps and a few old bent nails, it was a decent hunt for this particular park. Quarter was every bit of 9 inches. IH cents were 5 - 7 inches. Nothing to brag about. But I've' spent far longer and dug far less. HH Randy

Nice job Randy! I don't believe you were bragging at all. You've earned those finds!! Thanks for the pictures and the story!!!!

Great finds! I've never dug a barber quarter but plenty of barber dimes. What sort of signal did you get for the quarter? Was it really iffy or pronounced?

I appreciate the comments. I got rinsing them off and found one of the IH cents was a nice 78. Almost makes up for the quarter being so worn. :beers: HH Randy

It was not what I would consider to be a strong signal. But it was consistent in that it repeated the same thing with each pass from the same direction, with a bit of target blanking in between. Left to right was not as strong as right to left. But both gave enough high tone to make me want to investigate further. When I switched to quick mask, it indicated several adjacent targets. I imagine that explains the difference in signals and the reason it hadn't been dug before now. Gotta love the Etrac for separating targets! HH Randy

78, 83, 89 and 02. Lincolns were 2 X 1910, a 17D and a 48. Barber quarter is a smooth 1900 O. When I saw that 7 as the third digit on the 78 IH, I started getting all excited again! :jump:  HH Randy

nice finds "far longer with far less" I hear that one
