In line Probe

Hey guys have another question. Currently I have a garret pro pointer and the pro find 25. I have both because the garrett started acting up would sound off for no reason became very frustrating. come to find out this seemed to be common problem for this unit, so I went with the pro find it has less then twenty hours on it and its doing same thing or sometimes wont turn on. I did all the trouble shooting and probably going to send it back for another one. My question is what are your guys opinions on the sun ray inline. looking for feed back. Weight is not a concern how do these units preform. Pros and cons. Thanks in advance fellas.

It has performed flawlessly!! The added weight is minimal, and the only drawback (for me) is the wire.
Too bad they are no longer in production...good luck finding one at a reasonable price.

They dont make them anymore but you can find a used one. I dont like the minelab pinpointer either...gave it to my son and bought a garrett that is a little quirky but works good. No matter how goofy pps work, its better than not having one.

Put a spacer under the cap of your propointer to assure solid contact with the battery connections--a felt bumper designed for cushioning cabinet doors when they shut works well. Also , don't leave it laying in the Sun while you're digging targets. Mine occasionally goes off on it own and that seems to take care of it. You either love in-lines or don't care from them. I don't care for the weight , wire or Parkinson's like movement necessary to make them work right. For the cost of one you can buy 2 Garretts and new pointers are hitting the market now. Sun ray has stopped making them for a reason and there is lesson there as well.

I was on the fence about getting a X1, but now that's all I use. I like getting the same tone as the etrac when probing the hole. Makes finding it a lot easier. I looked all over and finally found one at a decent price from a service men in Okinowa...he paid shipping.

I put one of those small retractable lanyards right in the middle of the cable. When your done using the probe the lanyard pulls the cable back up neatly and out of your way. http://www.waveinn.com/nautical-fishing/rapala-retractable-lanyard/45543/p?utm_source=google_products&utm_medium=merchant&id_producte=224148&country=us&gclid=CN_xqNe_gL0CFRQaOgodo1QAQA

Thanks guys. Hey nice tip about the spacer I wondered if I was not making contact. I will open it up and see if I understand what you mean. Thanks.

From what I heard SunRay stopped making them because they could not get upper rods from minelab anymore, I like mine.

Kenny, interesting idea! Do you a pic of the set up? Or is it shown on your You tube videos?

Thanks,

Bryan

The Sunray probes are excellent. It's a shame it became cost-prohibitive for Ralph to continue making them. I'd guess added competition from various popular handheld probes over the years didn't help either. Whites just released a new probe too.
The only minor and obvious issues with the Sunray is that it can only be used on one detector,
and forgetting to flip the switch back after recovering a target! Forgetting to flip the switch back fall more under the category of under error though!
Once you've used one its hard going back to anything else.
One more thing-
Having an inline probe means you'll never misplace it either, a huge plus for someone like me!
Cheers
