In Northern Virginia, any locals willing to hunt?

Hi boys and girls....I am in Northern Virginia right now, in Williamsburg area. Would appreciate VERY much if someone up this way could find it in their heart to take this old man hunting somewhere I might find an early 1800's coin potentially, or earlier. I have never been up here before, and would love to hunt with a local THer.

If you can, please feel free to contact me, either here, or dennisjwynne@gmail.com

Thanks to all who read, and especially to anyone who is willing......

HH

Dennis, anxious.....

Yes, very different indeed. I am from Delaware and was going to offer a spot around here, not too far from Northern VA. But Williamsburg is 4+ hrs. HH MIke

I live in Williamsburg and the comments above are right - you are at least 2.5 hours south of Northern VA. Nevertheless, here in Williamsburg there are VERY few places you can coin hunt here because almost all of it is designated NATIONAL HISTORIC LAND. In fact, this might be one of the only places where you can get in serious trouble for merely hunting a public park, school or tot lot. As a result, I have been spending most of my time at the Yorktown Beach - which has authorized areas for detecting. I prefer coin shooting - but I have to get my fix somewhere. There are places in neighboring counties - Surry, Suffolk, Glouster - where you can hunt for old coins, but I don't presently have any contacts there. Best of luck...

Oh - forgot to ask - was that you at the Yorktown Beach on Thursday about 1600? I saw another detectorist out there for the first time in nearly a year. Looked like he was swinging an eTrac. I was using my AtPro that day, as the weather looked like rain.

I belive any national park has serious penalty for using detector. I live about 20 mins from Brandywine Battlefield and have always dreamed of detecting, but didn't want to lose my eequipment and have to pay huge fines. HH, MIke
