in search of a lost ring.

This lady found out through her friends that I use a Metal detector a lot and asked me to find her ring, so I asked some question to how and where she lost it at,she told me while washing the car in her yard and said it was a keep sake ring from her late mother and I asked was it gold, silver or what and she said it was a silver ring and I knew that would be a lot easier to find for her and she wants me to search her yard for civil war relics, that the area where her house is was a camp site for the troops guarding the General's house were his was staying and coverted to a hospital, so I will hunt for the ring wednesday and the relics later, I can't wait to go and run the ace350 like a mad man. Any tips would be helpful, HHH

tips on finding the ring or the relics? what is the size of the ring? 10 kt, 14, 18 ?

Good luck finding the ring. Be sure you're wearing your headphones! Prior to hunting for the ring, take some readings of similar rings, with your Garrett 350. Slow & low!

Dig it all! If the ring was lost recently, it will be in the grass, not below the surface. As for the relics, they can ring in almost anywhere. Dig them all! Hope you do well.

That sounds like a good place. Like Mike said relics come in everywhere on the id.

What a dream to be hunting an area....find that ring! lol

Just some thoughts here....

Did she have a "bucket of suds" ? it is a good possibility it fell off when she dipped the sponge into the bucket to rinse. I would ask her where she dumped the contents of the bucket. You know how that bucket gets all full of suds? it is possible she didn't see it in the bottom.

Check along the hoodline of the vehicle. if the ring slid off and went down towards the engine bay it might be stuck just under the hood.

Hope you find it quickly so you can then concentrate on the civil war camp! - Jim

Thanks Martin, I will post pics! Thanks for tips!

Seeker41 she lost a silver ring I'm not sure what size but she is a small lady.

I sure will Mike I'm digging it all, I will find it with God help!

Great advice 7centworth!

I have found a few rings for people and they frequently lose them a little farther away than they think. As to CW stuff - is the site is really a former CW site then I would dig every signal, no matter what it registers on the machine. Good luck, Steve in so az

Yes it was a civil war camp site and old buildings and homes still standing, you find more rings than anybody I know! I digging everything with a spade shovel, hand trowel is just for back up only!

Thanks Ma,amen sister glory to his name!

It is a dream hunt Earthlypotluck,in a yard for cw relics, no hiking or fight my way to get there through the woods! Nope just pull up in my truck and get out and hunt! I will hopefully find the ring on the first try!

Wow! its a dream alright! hope you find a bunch of coins, buckles, buttons etc. HH - Jim in Frozen CT

Unfortunately, I live in Connecticut and yes, the ground is frozen. Right now it is coming down rain but freezing on contact so it is a sheet of ice all over. People better drive extra slow or the police departments are going to be extremely busy. I am confident Spring is right around the corner.... I just have to wait. Meanwhile, I have other hobbies I am pursuing to keep myself busy. I was actually out on New Years day at a local freshwater beach metal detecting. Now that was odd lol It was in the 40's near 50 if I remember right and found myself a nice silver .925 toe ring. Now (sigh) I just have to wait for mother nature to bring Spring - Take care - Jim
