Indian, silver, and more wheats.............

went to another old school that I have not been to before, did not find much.... mostly clad, then shortly before I left I got a 1941 silver quarter, so that saved the day! Was silver coin #33 for the season.

Was driving back thru this small town and noticed an old church and I saw an elderly gentleman outside at the house next door, I stopped and chatted with him for a bit trying to see if he knew the pastor of the church, explained to him I wanted to detect the church yard. He did not know the pastor or where he lived but he told me his house was one of the oldest houses in town and told me "why not try my yard!"

I love it when things happen like that. So I had an hour left to detect and started in the front yard, VERY first target was the 1901 indian, (#15 IHC for the year) I knew it was going to be a good yard. I got 2 wheats, 1920 and 1937, a button that was for an honor roll student, thought that was unique. I asked him if he minded if I came back thursday morning to finish the yard because I was out of time and he said no problem! So hoping for more goodies thursday when I return.

well I know elderly people are the best for knowledge of things in the past, and when I can sit and listen they love to talk and I always learn things!

My last silver was a 41 qtr also! Are you finding that the plugs are dying and turning yellow when it is this dry?

getting yellow yes, not much we can do about it, most yards here are almost compltely yellow now

Nice Injun and silver! Congrats! Yes, we older folks like to talk and if someone will listen we could tell them lots and lots of things, but when we repeat too much then they turn a deaf ear! I write and write as you all can see and probably get tired reading before some are finished, but just call me gabby Ma! Be friendly and listen and even God will provide hunting grounds through the elderly, and most are friendly and love to talk, especially in smaller towns....they get afraid in the big cities, because too many try to take advantage of them, so they tune them out and go inside for safety, quickly! God Bless! Betty

Looks like the indian is in pretty good shape.

Do you worry that plugs turning yellow and dying might make owners mad? Up here when things get dry and the plugs start dying, many of us switch gears and start water hunting or sand, chip bark etc... Just wondering how it is down there.

we had a pretty bad drought last summer and I visited several places I detected last year in the fall, after the rain resumed all the spots returned to green, not one person has ever said a thing. I have mentioned to home owners how places where I dig will turn yellow and they said no big deal. Most places I go to are yards that are not very nice and houses are pretty run down. I stay out of real nice yads for that reason

The dead spots always come back. Keep diggin them oldies! I can't wait till fall to dig them here again. But I am lovin the water hunts and the gold. :)
You are having a great year! :)

went back today and finished up the yard, I dug a ton of targets, only 3 wheats, no silver, no indians.......the 1910 is gorgeous, check the details
