Infinium update....puzzling to say the least

Detecting at the beach, low tide, got a whisper of a signal. Upon digging it out, a corroded penny, and while lying on the sand, passing the coil over the coin, there was hardly a signal at all. Has anyone ever had this happen? This is the first time this has happened to me. I hear bobby-pins, bottle caps, quarters and the usual junk with no problem. Thanks for reading. Jim

Maybe there was iron ,foil, etc, things discriminated out all around and under the spot you found and layed the penny. Causing problems.
Seems unlikely, but if its working now,, hmmm.

I found it surprizing, how , if the negative target is larger than the positive target and they are close together. The positive target will dissapear.

Have you checked your batteries?

Sure did Dahul...matter of fact, after that incident, detected for another 2 hours on the same batteries. One of those mysteries I'd say

Dont worry Jim I've seen it happen before with my Infinium and a VLF I've had. Guess is the nature of detecting old crappy rotted zinc with a PI. No worries.....keep hunting!

Thanks a lot ... started to worry that maybe the machine was flaky...Will give it another try tomorrow. Jim

I sure you have probally seen this , but this is what I was trying to say could have happened.

Are there any garrets that will pass this test. I know the ace will not.

No matter its still interesting to watch a coin disappear on a machine just by sitting it on a rusty nail.

What machines,if any will pass this test?

Deeper corroded zinc pennies give me a sound like a door bell when in the ground, as I remove sand the tone tends to becomes more stable. Its odd that there was hardly any tone. I have had small washers almost disappear.
