Info needed on F5

I'm looking into an F5. Owned a CZ6 yrs ago and wondered if the
F5 is nothing more than an enhancement of the CZ6 or is it
completely different tech ?
I live in Florida with low mineralization. In short, is the F5 a
good choice ?
Appreciate your input.
Bob

I had a CZ series back some years ago and my understanding is that the F5 is totally new from the ground up. Nothing like the CZ6. I was looking hard at the F5 myself but instead went with the F70 and like it very well so far.

Since you have no mineralization (Florida) I think there are better choices than the F5. The F5 excels in heavily mineralized areas though. Do you plan on detecting in wet saltwater sand..........or are you a dry land coinhunter? Do you plan on relic hunting........or are you a jewelry hunter?
You really need to let us know the specifics on how you plan on using a detector. So many detectors are 'task' specific.

Terradigger, thanks for your input. OK, I hunt dry sand,
wet sand beaches, school yards and parks here
in S. Florida. Have been looking for a medium priced
T.I.D. detector and thought about giving a look see
to the F2 and F5

I have the F2,F5 and the new gold bug. The F2 will not work due to the preset ground balance on wet sand. It is a good beginner machine but the tid is a bit jumpy. My son relic hunts with me and we compare targets all the time and it is a fine machine for dry beach and inland hunting. I am VA and have alot of red clay but the machine runs good. The F5 is quite a step up from the F2. You can download the manuals and you will see. It has tid in disc and am, very nice feature. The machine can be set up and tweaked for multiple situations since you have separate gain and threshold in both modes. Tid is tighter than the F2. If you want the most stability and tight tid I would go with the gold bug or the g2. Very pleasant to hunt with and I am getting ready to go out on the beach in Florida in about 4 hours. The GB runs smooth but will not be as deep as a CZ on the beach but it will work and so will the F5. The gold bug is a little deeper than the F5 in my ground when both are equipped with the 11 DD coil. If I could pick the perfect machine for me I would like the F5 with the performance of the GB and I would need no other machine for my hunting style. I like the user interface of the F5.

Take care
Bob

The F5 is a nice machine and would do well for most of your hunting needs. Great interface and easy to learn. I like mine a lot. My son has the Teknetics Omega. It is a little better balanced than my F5 with a simpler interface and comes standard with the 11" DD coil. It is a newer design by Dave Johnson and the gang at First Texas, Either one is a very nice mid priced unit.

F5 = fun machine, short learning curve, pretty accurate TID. Runs smooth on Texas beaches, dry or wet. Haven't seen much more than 7-8 inches in the wet stuff with sens set at 40 - 60, thres at 0 -+1.
