info wanted: goldscan by pulsepower developments

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you'll find that the battery should be a separate box that you wear on a belt....

Dazzer

Dazzer is correct,

There should be a separate large black box containing the batteries and the headphone connector and cable to connect to the back of the control box mounted at the back. That is the reason for the 3 pin connector on the back end.

Eric might still have a battery set up around though the detector must be about 1995.
The belt mounted Nicad pack weighed around 3lbs and was recharged by plugging the charger (which you seem to be short of) into the headphone jack.
An overnight charge would provide nine or ten hours detecting. The supplied charger would not over charge if it was left on accidently. Make certain the charger is switched off when the jack is inserted or removed or it will blow the fuse in the battery box.

I assume the charger/battery pack from the follow up model Goldquest would suit as they were both 15 volt.

all I got was the Metal Detector, I inherited from my uncle when he passed away but I did not go to England to pick it up so all I got was the Metal Detector,

I ordered a battery & charger from www.strikalite.co.uk & I still don't have wires to get it working

& after I did that I found this site

Its a pity that you did not get the battery box, as this also has the headphone socket and charging protection diode. From the battery box there was a two core shielded coiled cable that took the power to the detector and the audio signal back the the headphone socket. It might be hard to find that cable now, but I'm sure there must be an equivalent. The connector on the rear of the Goldscan has three pins. one is the audio signal, the other is battery negative, and the third a common battery positive and ground for the audio. That is an early Goldscan and I can't remember the connections. You would have to unscrew the base plate off the rear box and take a digital photo of the wires to that rear connector for me to identify them. It was changed to a different connector on later models.

Eric.

anyone have any pics of inside the battery box? or wiring diagrams. my father is not sure if he rewired it correctly and it has been blowing the fuse.

Many thanks. :)
