Initial Impression of the XP Deus. 5 Minute Back Yard Test

The Wolf

Member
I just received my new Deus yesterday. I had a couple minutes before work today to try it out in the back yard. All I can say is WOW!!!

Upon opening the box and inspecting all the components, I noticed the superior quality and craftsmanship. This thing is put together really nicely and feels great in my hand. At just 2 pounds and completely wireless, I can swing it all day w/o any problems, even with the larger 11" coil. It seems to have a perfect balance.

So on to the test.....I've heard great things about the discrimination capabilities of the machine, and the depth compared to my F75 SE was the only thing that I was on the fence about before buying it. There are mixed reviews on the actual depth of the Deus. I threw a .58 Minie ball down, booted up the machine and played around with the settings a bit.........Well I can tell you in just under 5 minutes, I am confident that the Deus is the winner. I'm not sure if it's actually deeper or just the enhanced tones making it seem more sensitive, but it sure seemed to hit the bullet pretty hard and deep. The Deus was in Basic 1, sen 90, disc 4, reactivity on 1, silencer on 0, and the F75 in boost mode with the NEL Tornado coil.

I know air tests are not real world "in-the-dirt" tests, but comparing machine to machine on the same target, in the same air test gives me a fairly decent comparison. I plan to do a further in depth comparison on different buried targets when I have more time.

The machine will take me a while to master like the F75 did, but right now, after only 5 minutes, I'm preparing to sell my Fisher.

Just my initial thoughts. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for the progress reports. HH

After you get going head south from basic one and try GMAxx a bit. Good luck with your new detector.
