input on 5" excellerator coil

i have a 5"excellerator coil that came with my explorer as a promotion, i used it and its seems ok but i was wondering if it goes deeper or if it is better at something and not the other, i also have the standard m/L 8" coil?

In trashy areas that little 5 inch coil is great. My first coin I found when I tried it was a 1935 walking lib half at 6 inches in a area i know me and many others have been over many many time. It gave a great signals with the 5 inch coil as it was able to see it in the trash and bigger coil cant. I also went to another old area of a old fairground my 2 buddies went over with the stock coil. I got a merc, a barber dime and 6 older wheaties they couldnt see because of the trash. I was even able to pick up a wheatie on top of a old Prince Albert can the stock or 8 inch coils could not.
This little coil has it advantages and i use my quite a bit, but it does not have the ground covererage or deph, but great for seperation and still gets decent depth.

for a small coil. Any time you get depth equal to or greater than the diameter of the coil is fantastic. Some guys have gotten over 7 inches with this coil. It all depends what part of the country you are in.

I have this same coil and love it. There are times it is my default coil. I did find a Barber half at close to 7" but most finds are 6" or less. There is no problem pinpointing either. The coil will sit right on top of the target.

thanks for the input , i was under the wrong impression that the 5" excellerator was better than my stock coil for depth.i did notice that pinpointing was perfect with it and more difficult with the stock 8 inch coil.

Great target separation and depth. 7" + has been reported to us and the X-5 has stood the test of time having been produced almost since the Explorer first came out and was the first Explorer accessory coil available!
