Installed Ubuntu Linux on my computer...very simple set up..

Pete in MI

New member
I got this from this site: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%253A%252F%252Fwubi-installer.org%252F&h=bcfb50f4803d457f6f1fc54d1be75df6&ref=nf

Its called WUBI for Windows. It makes no changes to your present Windows setup. When you have this installed and turn on the computer it gives you the option of using Windows or using Ubuntu Linux. Ubuntu has some nice games on it...like Mahjong with LARGE tiles for us old folk who need the larger tiles.
It has all the needed programs that most people want (instead of Microsoft forcing their programs onto the system that you don't want or need).

So far I am impressed with Ubuntu Linux (via the WUBI installer). Only two problems so far and one I have resolved was (1) didn't connect to the wireless by itself...did some reading, went to a window that wanted the SSID and in my case it is Wireless (and is non-secured) and the computer find all it needed so not it automatically connects each time Ubuntu is turned on. The other problem is I can't watch movies instantly from the Netflix website. Linux is not supported..yet. Glad I still have Windows XP on this computer.

Just something for me to play with while letting my knee rest and recouperate. Oh BTW the boss told me yesterday I have until Feb 1 to get a doctor's report to him saying I can resume ALL my duties...or I will have no job after that point. So far they have been trying to keep the position open for me...I seriously don't think by Feb 1 I will have all restrictions removed. The doctor told me before that some people will always have pain and just live with it. That doesn't sound like it will be repaired 100% so I can work. Only time and God knows for sure.

What is the word on surgery?
Good luck Pete.

Well, Pete, I hope it is easier installed than when I'm trying to pronounce it! Still praying for you to be able to keep your job, as God is able to work it all out for yours and Sherry's purpose and for His good! May our Great Physician, Jesus, touch you with His loving and healing virtue for your knee and your whole body! Amen! May God Bless each of you always! Betty

Praying for quick and complete healing so you are back to yourself by Feb.

no clue when it will be, First the doc said he didn't want to risk any blood clots in my leg. Then he said he would do it so 6 weeks from when he said he would do it then Jan 18 I get to see him again and still no date as to when he will do it...unless he does it in his office??? Then at least another 5 days for recovery...and whether that gets me back to work or not I won't know until whenever. Everyone has dragged this out longer than it should have been. I have someone (an RN) coming out in 2 days to discuss getting me back to work...maybe he is a magician too. Just doing things one day at a time.

Bro Pete, one day at a time is all we can do....soooo pray, rest up and wait upon the Lord, for 'tis He Who heals and provides all things for our peace, joy and love! May God continually bless you and yours! Betty

Will pray, and god luck brother.

Jeff
