Interesting numbers

Searching a new park in a new town yesterday I got a good solid 12-42 reading at 2 inches. I did a plug and when I broke the plug a nickel fell out, that was a surprise those are not nickel numbers. Upon further inspection there was a penny directly above it. The penny was laying on top of the nickel and the E-Trac did not see the nickel. Also found a sterling silver ring with a garnet setting that read 12-38. Other good finds were a 1927D wheat at 12-43 and 1910 Barber nickel that was jumping 9 to 15-10 to 17. A good day for me. Thats what I was thinking, Wartime Silver Jefferson Nickels 1942-1945.

No it is a standard 1984 nickel. It was under the penny a pocket spill and even though they were touching (the nickel had a bright silver spot where the penny kept it from turning black) the penny completely masked the nickel.

But, there is no Barber Nickels, perhaps a Liberty nickel?
