hello all, i read that to stop the continuous chattering of the deus xp i should set the sensitivity to 99 and then drop the ground balance to its lowest number then raise and lower the deus til the interfearence ceaces whilst increasing the ground balence then after this is done you have to re-set the sensativity level back to 90,this works a treat yet once a target is found and i have placed the deus on the ground to find the target i get the chattering continuous again time after time when re-starting to detect, which means i have to re-set the ground and sensativity levels time and time again,i hope no one else has this problem yet has anyone any ideas how to cure the problem, thanks for your time,.

Once you set the program, as long as you have your GB in manual you can save the program and it should maintain the settings when you turn it on again.

Say what...sounds like a broken detector to me

Manxman, I didn't read your post properly. I have some high EMI areas that do what you describe. But when I put my coil to the ground again, the chattering subsides.
Does your problem occur in every location you go to? Frequency change help?
Also when using GB tracking, if I set the detector down for a long time, sometimes the tracking is way off from the ground reading and I get a lot of chatter/falsing.
I have to go to manual GB and then back to tracking to reset tracking so that it follows the ground reading.

I get a lot of chatter when I set the unit down on the ground at certain sites. To save my ears from all the chatter when I put the unit on the ground, I put pinpoint on, and, it's very quite.
