Hi all. I'm traveling overseas in a few weeks for a European vacation and I plan to bring my Deus along. I've read several older posts (a few yrs old) about traveling with one's md and that one should take anything with a lithium battery as carry on.
Since I haven't seen a lot of updated info, I thought I'd just share. TSA guidelines online say that for metal detectors to check with the airline directly. So I called United. After 20 mins on hold, the rep told me that yes on can bring a md along under the following rules:
- must fit within carry on bag dimensions
- all batteried components need to be carry on due to fire hazard
- batteries need to be completely drained down
It's the last one that has me a bit concerned. I thought you can ruin the lithium battery if you drain it down completely. I get where they are coming from as they want to be sure there can't be a possibility of self-ignition if a battery has no juice. But I don't want to risk ruining the battery.
Thoughts or any recent experience flying to Europe with your Deus?
