Iron check on salt water beaches

Looking for opinions from atx veterans. How effective is the iron check on a saltwater wetsand? Typically checking targets the size of a ring. 2g to 20g. Will a large gold ring register as iron if too close or far from the coil?

Never a problem with any item I have dug. It is a thousand times better than the Infinium where you had to turn the knob about 300 degrees and then back again. With the ATX just push the button and done Iron or Not. Almost as good as the ATPro's Iron Audio. 95% of the time my ATX is used in salt water.
