Is anyone on this forum using one of these machines? How deep do they go on say coins, buttons, and artillery shells? Which one is better? Can you distinquish well between brass/coins and iron?
Thanks,
Dan

I have used the GP Extreme & 3000 they are all basically the same machines as are the Explorer series...They go deep...I wouldn't believe they would be much use on a battlefield...They are primarily a nugget hunter...I've dug rusty boot tacks at a good 16"...I wouldn't even attempt to coin shoot or relic hunt with them...

The 4000 allegedly has iron discrimination but I have not verified its effectiveness as yet.

If you want to get a good expert opinion on the GP 4000 try going to nuggetshooter.com & go to the forums....Bill Southern is the proprieter of the site & will not steer you wrong....Or you could go to Arizona Outback & get Chris Gholson to answer any questions...They are both experts on the GP series...One thing is for sure...They WILL detect...and DEEP....You might also try the findmall site for Yank Aussie detecting...can't say because I haven't checked it out.HH...TT

The 3000 and 3500 extensively, do not use the Disc platform at all and even tho the new 4000 is now basically a Digital unit the Disc has not improved. If you will wait a while there are 2 units that will be out in the next month or two one will be tested at the AZO outing soon, the other unit is being prepared by one of the major Detector Co.s and some info should be available before long. These are Discriminating PIs.. Having said that how good the disc will be remains to be seen. There was a fellow that posted for a while on Bill Southerns forum that was beach hunting on the East coast with the 3000 I believe and doing very well Depth is very good.. You can sift thru this forum and find out about the Pulse Devil the other you will have to wait until the manuf is ready to talk about it or not, whichever they decide.... Hope this helps some...Geo
