Is anyone running a Fisher F5 on the beaches in Florida?

only reason I'm asking is me and a couple buddies are making our annual trip down to Florida again and this year I decided we try our hand at MD. Since I bought an Fisher F5 was wondering how well it does on the beaches in Florida. And if anyone is running them, what settings are you running. I was just planning on going with the all metals mode and dig everything lol figure it would be my safest bet at finding something since I'm a newbie at this sport :biggrin: Well any help would be great from any veteran hunters out there.

Been doing my research and watching all the video's I can on how to read the beaches for our best chances. But like I said any help would be great.

Looking forward to some warm weather verses all this snow here in Wisconsin.
 
Not seen anybody on the UK Beach's with a F5 yet, but there's plenty of beachcombers here that swear by the old 1236x2. A friend of mine uses his in preference to the 2 minelabs he owns. There's also a local who had over 600 rings with a 1265 fisher but he now uses a minelab sov gt. The f5 looks a decent machine for the price
 
Keep it away from the water. You drop it in and it will be dead forever. I lost an F-70 that way. $650 down the toilet. Live and learn.

Dry sand you should be fine.
 
sucks about your F-70 Steve and thanks for the advice. I didn't plan on getting to close to the water. Just hope the F5 does well on the beach. I'm getting the feeling no ones really running the F5 on the beaches or have tested the idea out and see how it does. So I guess I will have to give a progress report while I'm down there and post some pics of all my beautiful tabs we will be collecting lol.

Thanks ashmonkey for posting as well on the UK beach scene. I'm guessing I will look out of place with me running around with my F5 on the beach but it's gonna be fun just the same hehe :thumbup:

And don't smear peanut butter on it, or poor gas on it and don't forget, if you jump up and down on it it will quit working also!

Hey jspoon, did you try peanut butter on your machine? I could see pouring gasoline on it to make it run hotter!:rofl:

Wait....you might have an idea there. Maybe peanut butter [size=medium]IN[/size] it would prevent water from getting into it. Maybe if I had done that with my F-70, I would still have it today! :rofl:

I dropped the F-70 into ankle deep water when a bee flew under my sun glasses and bit me under the right eye.
Man that was not fun and when I picked up the f-70, the screen started to die and then nothing. I tried rinsing it off with distilled water but it just would not work any more. To get it fixed was almost as much as getting a new one.

I have seen others accidentally get hit with a rogue wave and get their land machines dunked. Funny how just a little bit of sea water inside and the machine dies. Almost like it was designed for that to happen.
 
well here's a question for you guys, I been to the mods part of the forum and read up on some of the mods you can do to make your land detector waterproof. It looks like a pain in the butt to do but if your a coastal living person I could see its practicality application provided you want to search in deeper water. Personally I think if that were the case I would save up and end up buying one just for that purpose though but it's an idea just the same.

I plan on hitting into some of the water and hope for no bee's ;) But again sorry to hear about that unfortunate accident Steve I'm not a big fan of bee's what so ever hehe as a youngster I had one fly up my shorts and sting me close to rod and tackle so to speak lol ever since that experience I have no love for them what so ever lol
