Is it true cell phones can interfere with metal detectors?

yes on some of the detectors

Having a mobile phone in the pocket can cause major interferance with your detector as can the mobile phone masts,if you are out by your self its always wise too carry a phone just incase but while detecting it needs switching off.

Suprisingly enough being in close contact with other brand makes of detectors can also cause problems as well.

I normally have a cell phone on in my pocket when out with my Gamma 6000, but I don't feel like it's ever caused any issues. Maybe it depends on the phone too. I just have a cheap 'dumb' phone, the ones you buy air-time cards for.

Yes it does, it effects my ETP when my phone is running or loading

My phone doesn't seem to effect my Omega, but had another phone that did with it and also my f 75. With any detector I have had and carrying a cell phone, I sure know when its ringing, though. HH jim tn

OR leave it in the truck. Bothers my F-75 LTD and my Minelabs. Maybe the locations. Kind of like trying to ground balance inside the house with the lights on. :surrender: HH:fisher::teknetics:

I carry my phone in a holster on my left hip (I am left handed) and swing my ETP left handed and never had a problem. My phone is not a cheap one.

If you have a T2 and a mobile phone or an electric fence or another detector within meters of you or an overhead pylon or a pin-pointer you are in for some racket as the T2 is so sensitive it picks it all up. But then sensitivity is what we want so I learned to live around it.

Never had my "dumd" phone as stated by fellow above..even my t2 or cz6a or gamma or so on.

Today i got a call and my machine went nuts 2-3 seconds before the phone even rang
