Is my e-trac faulty or is it my setting?

I've noticed some times my e-trac will make the tones but not display a FE-CO reading for what seems like 10-20 seconds when I'm detecting. Or it will display my last hit and make the tones when going over objects without updating the FE-CO readings. The farm yard I'm hunting is full of nails and iron. Any thoughts what might be happening? Thanks in advance.

The display is slower than the beep. It won't update a number until the threshold comes back. Try sweeping your target just one way say 4 inches and stop your coil. Then go back over the target the other way stopping just past your target. You will see the numbers update. Just a half second stop is all it takes. Your machine is normal...
