Ok, some back ground, I've put about 30+ hours (I kno wI need more) into my SE which I bought used on eBay. I believe the detector was purchased from KellyCo in Nov 2007, so it's not that old. All of the pics below, I put on a plastic recycling bin, which lifted the item off the ground a bit over 2 feet. I had my SE in factory default settings. Sometimes I put it in all metal mode depending on the item. I live in a fairly old house circa 1850 and my yard is very trashy. I know it's probably not the best place to learn the SE, but it does have a ton of targets. I was able to pin point a wheat penny surrounded by iron, but I'm getting some crazy readings at times. My Fer and Cond readings are a bit off I believe. I usually go to this site Minelab Explorer XS Fer and Cond readings I also found another that listed even more, similar to this site. I can't find the link. My question, do the readings my Explorer SE seem a bit off. Should I send it in to be serviced?
[attachment 87246 wholeset1.jpg]This is a picture of all the items I want to post I'm doing this for reference so people can tell how big or small an item is.
[attachment 87248 nickel.jpg]This I believe is a piece of nickel, according to the charts I read on its fer and cond.
[attachment 87249 nickelback.jpg]Back side of the chunk O' nickel. Anyone have an idea what it might be?
[attachment 87250 wheatpennyfront.jpg]Front side of a wheat penny, 5-27 is pretty close to what others report it should read like.
[attachment 87251 wheatpennyback.jpg]Back side of the wheat, and yes this was one of my first attempts at electrolysis. I'm hoping I didn't make a mistake doing it on this penny, I looked it up and it was perhaps worth 70 cents. It was pitch black and un-readable prior to it's electric bath.
[attachment 87252 gold14kring.jpg] No I did not find this, it's my "mini-handcuff". 7-24 is a bit odd for 14k gold, though it does fit into some of the gold ranges. Does anyone find the reading on this odd?
Anyway, I guess I have to create another post, for the other items. Any of the readings seem off to anyone?
Thanks in advance for the assistance.
