Is the F5 any good on gold rings and jewelry????

It's not running at 12 to 15 KHZ........................that is where the good gold ring/jewelry machines are at. Yet some claim it does really well..............Why?? Or is it Hype???? Why would I consider the F5 for this type of hunting.................................hoping to get tips and advice from people who actually own and use the F5. I was told the F70 was superior in this type of hunting, and to stay away from the F5....................yet I'm not so sure . So help me out..................which way should I go..........................Thanks!!!!!!!
 
Do a search here on FMall for the posts by the member, Mike Hillis. Yes, it is a very good on jewelry according to Mike. He is considered by many as a F5 expert.
 
Not to say the F70 is inferior, or any of the Fmodels for that matter, Your decision might come down to something as simple as what batteries you prefer, 9's or AA's. Theres several other members that post here that swing an F5, and have done very well with it, and theres posters here that swing an F70 to great success...both apparently are great at jewelry, Good Luck!

I already scoured Mike Hillis as well as a few others posts on the F5 and put it into a word doc. file.
For the most part unedited posts in order and random order.
Read it all and you can see it is a versatile machine.

Doesn't seem to fit does it. 7.8 kHz being good for jewelry. I've got a air test floating around here where I tested it against a 19kHz Goldbug. It kept up pretty good with the Goldbug until the objects started to get really small, diamond stud size, then the 19kHz did better. Look up that post.

Also, about 9 - 12 months after the F5 came out, there was some good posts about F5 heat and gold nuggets. Look some of those up.

Really is an exceptional machine for the price, and the coil selection is expanding so it is very versatile.

If I were to give advice, it would be something like this: Dont get too hooked up on the operating frequency "thing". Look at the features of the machines you're interested in, look up posts on those machines, or any other independent articles you can find, and make your choice based on that. e.g. the other day I took out my Gold Bug Pro for a spin...no gold, but a small silver ring (as well as some coins)...operating at 19 kHz. A few days later I took my Omega (7.8 kHz) to exactly the same area....no silver, but a tiny gold sleeper earring (as well as some coins). I guess it really comes down to the direction of the wind and how you're holding your mouth, 'cause I cant figure it out.:lol:
 
I have found lots of jewelry with my Tesoros at 12-14.75 frequency...but I also have found plenty of silver and gold with my F2 which is 5.9kHz.
I believe it is more about the ability and knowledge of the person standing behind the machine than the machine itself.
Also getting good at researching and finding and recognizing good sites that might have a higher percentage of jewelry, helps, as does digging a ton of signals from foil, (even iron, sometimes), all the way up into zinc.
