Is the new 11" coil on the Deus now just as deep as say the E-Trac??? :look:

I sold my E-trac bought the Deus. I worried at first about the switch but I am happy that I didn't give up on the Deus. IMHO, I believe that I have had enough hours on the Deus (and still own one) to make a fair comparison between the two and I believe the Deus is a better machine than the E-Trac. I have a CTX as well and I will be selling it bc I like the Deus more and if I were buy a second machine it would be an E-Trac. Am I making any sence here? I'll explain, the Deus is my go to machine bc it's lighter, faster, and just as deep as the FBS minelabs. Another plus is how it can be put easly in a back pack. I live a 10 min. walk from the Erie Canal and I bike it all the time so the Deus is perfect for a bike'n hunt. I like the tones better on the E-Trac opposed to the CTX and the E-trac is just as deep as the CTX so I'll sell the CTX. When I buy a second machine, it will be an E-Trac or Safari bc the FBS are needed for the high EMI areas and I like the tones from both.

I agree. I got rid of my CTX for the Deus. If I buy another MineLab machine it will be the E-trac II or Pro. I had owned an Etrac for a 3 years and only went to the CTX because my machine was coming out of warranty and I thought I needed to "move up" instead of buying a newer Etrac. I used the CTX for a few months and that was more than enough. It's not like I didn't find a bunch of great stuff with it, I just thought it was heavy, awkward to swing and a disappointment for the price. My E-trac went just as deep as the CTX and did a better job of letting me know what denomination of coinage I was digging.

I think the Deus is going to be a killer machine. I've only hunted with a couple of times due to weather but the few times I've been out I've dug silver and deeper small coins than I ever did with the Etrac or the CTX.

I went heads up with an SE Pro on a 9-inch buried clad dime last week. The SE had the 11-inch Pro coil and I had the 11-inch Deus. The SE couldn't read the dime with full sensitivity and my Deus hit it clearly both ways. This convinced me. I would say the Deus with the 11-inch coil in my soil does very well.

Last night I dug an 11" Wheat - and this would be my deepest coin recovery in my almost 30 years of detecting. Thought it might be a fluke at first, but just a couple feet away I got an almost identical signal, which was another Wheat at 10" down.

Have never used anything Minelab, and I only have 5 months' time behind the Deus, but finding these coins at this depth was honestly a surprise to me since Wheats only air-tested to 9-10" with the program I was in. The only reason I dug the deeper Wheat was because I changed reactivity to "1" which allows deeper targets to show themselves a little easier, provided there's little to no trash around.

On top of that, one could turn reactivity down to "0" and get even more depth - again, provided there isn't a lot of competing trash targets. In my test garden I'm not able to hit an 8" dime due to iron trash in the hole (I put it there). Really depends on the site, swing speed, and trash levels as to your maximum depth with this machine. Duke has been hitting some deeper coins with the Deus, so this shows you the potential of what it can do.

Because its the E-TREC that it is being compared too, showing that the Deus can find anything the E_trec can. Reversing it would show that the E could find anything the Deus could.

Wouldn't you want to show the Deus can find targets the E-Trac can't? That would also be called comparing. We all know it is real easy for any detector to see a coin that has already been found by another detector. It really doesn't prove much. My AT Pro can see the deep coins after I find them with my E-Trac and know where to put the coil, but it sure can't compare to the E-Trac when it comes to finding those on its own. <- My point.

What changed my mind was hunting a tot lot one day and saw a pull tab about 7-8" away from a metal poll. I swung my coil over it just for the heck of it and got nothing but the poll. No matter how hard I tried I could not get it to see that pull tab just the poll. That is when I realized I could be missing many of gold pieces close to the playground equipment. It is just the nature of the coil. The Deus needs a good elliptical coil before it would make a great tot lot machine. My AT Pro or even my DFX would have seen that tab eaisly with the elliptical coils I run on them.

I did not do the compairing.

If I hunted tot lots I would get a Tesoro Compardre..

The Deus may not be for everyone.

Looking back over my posts I want to apologize if I sounded like I was dissing the Deus. The Deus is a great detector and I only meant to comment on the subject of "Is the new 11" coil on the Deus now just as deep as say the E-Trac???" I was simply trying to say yes it is just as deep, I just didn't feel the feedback from the Deus was as easy to interpret as the E-Trac when it came to very deep coins.

I never hit coins this deep with either Etrac or the CTX and far better knowing that it's a deep coin, the Deus wins it because was able to get a good signal in both directions.

"QUOTE " I just didn't feel the feedback from the Deus was as easy to interpret as the E-Trac when it came to very deep coins."

I think you are correct about that. IMO the E trec will visually ID a target deeper than most any detector. '

I had my Etrac for a year and a half and made quite a few good finds with it. I can honestly say I was happy with the machine. Then I met a guy that had a Deus and we started hunting together and I got my butt kicked every time out. We would compare signals and he would hit targets that my Etrac wouldn't even squeak on. My friend has way more experienced and I know that goes a long way but when I couldn't take it anymore I traded my Etrac and AT Pro for a Deus and have done better with it green than I was doing with my other machines. The tones are a little hard to get used to but it's getting a little easier every time out. I know that your getting better info from these other guy's but I thought I'd share my experience with these machines. I like them all and hope to get another AT Pro one of these days for bad weather days and water hunting but I think that the Deus and I are in it for the long haul. Good Luck to you.
