Is the Safari as effective as the older explorer/EI I on salt-water beaches????

Hey Guys;

Just sold my beautiful explorer a few days back.. Was wondering, since both detectors use the FBS tech, is the Safari as effective on a salt-beach as the older explorers... I know its more simplified and the Id is numerical, ( and I guess thats Ok ) just need it hunt the same ie; depth, smoothness, no falsing or chattering at the waters edge, etc..... Thought I was going to go with the new V3 as a replacement, but have a chance to pick up a cherry Safari at half the price as a V3. What does anyone think???

Hollar Back.

One of my sons has a V-3. He loves it. I have Minelabs. A Safari and an Excaliber 11. The main difference are the tones. Since you are familiar with ML tones and a half price Safari is available I would go ML. Great on the beach also. My 2 cents.:minelab:

I took my Safari to the beach and it made no difference if I was on the dry or wet sand. Could go up and down without having to do a thing.
Depth was great, no chatter and I had sensitivity cranked up to 18.

The only thing I was discouraged with it that it does not seem to pick up white gold for some reason. I tried it with a necklace and an earring. My Bounty hunter didn't pick them up either. Not sure why.

Hi

To find thin white gold, you need to allow iron to come through, e.g; search in all metal.

Thin white gold shows around 3 to6 on the meter.

You might also want to use a smaller coil.

As for the question above, i would go for the Safari if you mainly hunt beaches.

Haven't owned or used the explorer, but do own the safari. It is a great machine and I have found things as small as a bb. My only issue with it is the depth. For some reason when I'm on the beach this machine goes extremely deep, and can get you tired after awhile. On the plus side if I'm finding stuff down deep this means that other detectors have passed right over. Great machine!!! Ron

coin and jewery mode (conduct audio)
Disc out -10 only. Now try your small white gold. Low tone all the way.

Hi! everyone. I'm T-swing. I haven't nd in 28yrs a little rusty to the least. Any how it is a new game. I did have an old Garrett Groundhog once nice machine. Now after much research I have narrowed it down to the Safari or the Sovereign Gt. anybody out there that could give me a heads ups on which one it will be greatly appreciated. I'm down here in Ontario, Canada Thanks and good hunting T-swing
