Is the salt beach a problem to the T2?

The wet sand yes, but the dry sand no. I couldn't get it to ground balance in the wet sand, but didn't have any problems in the dry sand. I hunted North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina back in Nov. and really didn't have any trouble. The T2 worked a lot better than I figured. I started out with my Explorer XS, but had batt. problems, so I went back to the car and pulled out the T2. I ground balanced with fastgrab in the dry sand and ran between 70 and 80 sens. with +2, then I tried dp. I found I liked dp better. When you first get out on the beach it will take a little getting used to. I picked up a couple of bucks worth of changed which is about average for the winter time. I'm looking forward to getting down there this summer. I like to hunt in late afternoon when everybody leaves the beach rather than early morning. I also like to hunt at night but the T2 doesn't have a back light, but it could still be done with a small flash light. I believe after maybe 4 or 5 good trips out on the beach you will find that the T2 works pretty well. I think I might be able to find a lot more small gold items, like chains and small rings. The T2 is the best a relic hunting, but I believe it will do ok on the beach also. Happy hunting. I would post some pictures of the items I found out on the beach, but I just got a new computer and haven't got it set up for the camera yet, maybe later.

Owners manual recomends manual ground balance for salt beach.

Fast Grab does not GB properly below a GB Phase reading of 30.

I didn't have a serious problems with it until I stuck it in the salt water. It's great responce to gold jewelry over the other so called beach machines may be a reason to use it as much as you can on the salt beach. There's no multi-freq. units being used on the beach with the sensitivity and responce the T2 has to gold jewelry. It may squeak and chatter, but you'll know when you pass over a good target.
