is there a better beach machine out there than the excal?

It depends on whether you want the machine to be waterproof or not. If so, then I would say the Excal and the CZ-20 are both top-contenders.
But if what you want is a wet sand or dry sand machine, the Explorer II is being used by many with great success and I have a Quattro that has pulled some impressively deep things in the wet sand, deeper than the Excal will. I know, I have both of them.
That said, it's not a LOT deeper, and all it takes is dropping it in the water one time and it's "all over but the cryin'", as they say. That's why I got the Excal, because after 2 summers of hunting the beach at low tide (often at night) with my Sovereign Elite, I decided I wanted that kind of performance in a waterproof package. And I think as far as waterproof goes, yes the Excal is the best. (IMHO)

not. I've owned all of the other maunfactoresr and noen can compare to the excalibor!

The PI's go alot deeeeeeper for the gold. I hunt in the ocean primarily. I own an excaliber 10", My PI HH gets gold twice as deep at least..

you dig a lot of junk to get to the good targets.CZ20 are deep but love steel caps and you lose coverage over the Excal. The Eric Foster units are deeper but the price goes with it. If I had the money I would have one for certian conditions.I have a Infinium and it is deeper but it still does not have true Iron Disc. In the wet sand it work great but I am still not have had enough time to learn it for the water.Good hunting,Joe

I got the HH PI you dont have to dig iron or steel if you test the target by turning the freq knob back to ID ea target.

Pulse Power, the, Deepstar3 is the deepest P.I out there at the moment hand built to a great specification.
