is this a civil war relic?

found these to metal squares. They are 3" wide by 3.5" high. the upper and lower sides have beveled edges about 10-20 degrees in the same direction.

found them in an area about 500 yards from a minor union and confederate calvalry action near a river on the confederate side of the river. a modern day park about 18 years old is the location. so they could be just some metal stuff. too small to be stirrups for a man. each square weighs 3.8 oz.

any help is appreciated.
