It has been 7 months since my last haircut, finally got one today!

hunted at an old 1912 church today.... went there today for a couple hours, ground was HARD, real hard. We have not had any real rain in over a month. There was a lot of gravel in the ground too so digging was pretty brutal! I will go back when we get more rain.

I did get two nice old coins, 1902S barber quarter and 1910 V nickel. They were about 8" down in same hole and only gave me a signal from one direction, the signal was very iffy bounced around a lot and after I got down to them I see why, the V nickel was laying right on top of the barber quarter which is why the signal was bouncing. Not sure what are the cut marks are on the V nickel?? oh well.....I will take it. I have not cleaned the nickel yet at all, been gone all day and just got home.

I missed the grand daddy of barber quarters by one year! the 1901s !

last barber I got was on Dec 31st 2008, long time to go w/o a haircut...lol

got the V nickel cleaned up, probably best detailed one I have dug this year, too bad it has those cut marks all over it, wonder what caused that?

Sorry goesforever. I couldn't resist that one. It pays to dig those iffy signals. I love it when you get one like that and you've just got to dig 'em to see what's going on.

iffy signals really rise my curiousity, and that is a good thing, way too many times a quiet iffy signal turns out to be a real treasure. I have heard people tell me over and over you never know what it is till you dig. I think too many people just walk right past those iffy signals dismissing them as junk.

Those that dig find out....as one never knows...using a ID unit years ago got a nickle to dime bounce from every angle...Turned out to be a merc. and silver roosevelt and a buffalo and V nickle all in same hole...Have to watch those nickle to tab bounces also as have got some nice gold rings from these signals..Strange how areas differ as we have had so much rain in the last two weeks that fields are waterlogged..Indeed go back as imagine some more goodies lurk....

Love to see those Barber girls, regardless of when or where they were born. Not sure why you only got a signal from one direction? I understand why you'd get mixed tones and a bouncing TID. But All Metal (zero discrimination) and multiple tones should provide an audio response on just about all metals, albiet inconsistent. Did the Threshold null out from those other directions? yes it nulled it other 3 directions, but that one direction gave a signal just too sweet to ignore not checking out

It looks like lawnmower marks if it had been on a bigger coin, but only lightly hit, but 8 inches down is maybe too deep?. nice finds.

I think maybe a kid did it somehow, maybe tin snips? because when that coin was lost they did not have power mowers

Yeah. There is usually something that grabs your attention about certain signals. Some targets just present differently under certain situations.
