hi i was out for a couple hours this afternoon. did ok 2 silver dimes 10 wheats, clad, newer pennies and some trash. i had just hit a 1952 wheat cent. so i rescanned the hole , nothing else there. i moved over to the left a little and BAM! a signal so good i had to pull up my pants and adjust my knee pads before digging it. only a 1940 dime but boy did she ring up nice! i don't see how anyone could have missed that one over the years. it was my 28th and 29th silver for the year. pretty sure i'll break into the 30's this weekend <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">

Those wheats come out pretty nice out there. I assume you cleaned them up a bit, but they dont turn out that great here even with cleaning...
Nice job!

soap and water. the area i have been detecting is a sandy small gravel mix of soil. silver comes out real clean! its higer ground and drains well. in other places i find real nasty wheats and indian heads. yes sometimes the silver can look pretty bad too. real black or yellow stains and if its a close to a road find some of that has a real rock hard grey coating on it. i have yet to find a good way to remove that grey stuff off a silver coin
