this is one book that will really open up your eyes (and ears) to detecting! Larry(IN) suggested I read a book entitled "Taking a Closer Look at Metal Detector Discrimination" by Robert Brockett. I bought one, read it, re-read it and read it again. This book is excellent! After 34 years of detecting, it makes me wonder how much stuff I have passed over because I wasn't fully aware of what the detector was telling me? It pertains primarily to the Whites analog detector. But the principles discussed apply to all of them! If you haven't read this book, I certainly recommend it! HH Randy

It's like the 6000 analog bible on discrimination. I read it many times and sent it to a friend. I wish I had it back.

Well, it's a shame they discontinued the XL Pro line of detectors. They should have boxed this book with every detector from the factory.

If you don't have it, it is a *MUST READ* for anyone who owns a 5900/6000/XL Pro series detector. I found one on ebay a few weeks back for under $10 shipped.

And for you newer digital detector owners, there is a whole section on digital discrimination. The same principals for the 5900/6000/XL Pro series apply to all digital models as well. You are just looking at a VDI number instead of the meter needle (80% of the book illustrations use the 5900/6000/XL Pro style meter). So just because you own a digital model, don't think this book will not be of use to you.
