It was no contest. The winner and my champion is

F-19 - Fisher's best kept secret. They took a good platform, sharpened and tuned it to be their ultimate relic machine - and then when they had the b***s to say so - of course, the keyboard detector experts on various forums poo pooed it.

Gee, looks like maybe they weren't kidding!

A company who makes a claim and - against all our cynical expectations - it seems they really did it!

Is it the best relic machine in the world right now? Maybe so - maybe not - but it's way better than the naysayers claimed when they badmouthed it.

I love the access to an incredible diversity of opinion and thought that forms offer that's why I have over 500 posts on this form alone and I read it every day – but sometimes I get really frustrated when people offer their opinions as facts – especially when they have no hands on experience to base their opinions on.

G "T" Kinsey is relating what he has DONE.

Good point there Amberjack.:clapping:

This is a relatively young technology with some not so simple obstacles that have to be mastered...just the understanding of soils, moisture, and its effects on targets is tribal knowledge earned through the years of careful R&D by the designer...then top that off with mfg/marketing and other HZ/patent constraints..All DJohnson designed rigs have his depth of skill built in, circumnavigated the other corporate bullcrappery, and made it out to us!.....I wonder whats on His desk that will never make it to market due to the aforementioned constraints? Can you imagine??.

Yes Mud I want some of the stuff laying around Mr J's desk :bouncy:

I havnt used the R but if someone come up to me in a local park with one and said I will swap you for that F19 I would have to decline and have a little giggle to myself as I went on my merry way, had the GBP from when it 1st come out and all I wanted was a back light and got so much more, so everyone buy an R and leave the goodies for me :clapping:

hope the F19 remains a well kept secret and everyone goes for the red one

Thanks Dave your a champ and I don't give out complements to easy

maybe we can sneak in Mub while Dave is not looking :chase:

I've had the G2 and the GBP. Went with the F19 shortly after it was released. My F19 gets way more use than my F75 or V3i but some of that has to do with the type of hunting I'm doing that day. The Racer is in the mail so I'll be doing my own evaluation starting next week. I'm not relic hunting but spend much of my detecting time hunting Western ghost town sites, and railroad sidings. The F19 is also my go to dry beach sand machine and it leaves the V3i and F75 hanging on the wall for that environment. Looking forward to my own shootout.

have to agree Tom best testing is my own but will see if there are any bugs 1st to see if I want to do my own testing but to beat the F19 for what I use it for it would have to some super machine.

AJ

amberjack - I agree 100%. It will have to be a great detector to get me to sell my F19.

against the Racer? I'm real interested in what findings you have on the difference in depth in bad ground.

Thanks,

El

No F19 yet for me but My Gold Bug DP is the same (from what I've read) minus a few features, notch, iron volume and backlight. I have a Racer on hand also. For low conductors in heavy iron I greatly prefer my GB. Truly amazing how stable it can run in a bed of nails signaling good targets without annoying high chirps that slows you down investigating. I agree with woodchip for the type of hunting he does. But with that being said if silver is on the menu or deep coins in general and maybe a little less iron the Racer pulls ahead. Also, I've found the small coil on the Racer to be better than any other small coil I've used in the past. The small coil will sift through iron very well and with good depth. For my old homesites I've found the Racer isn't going to be my first pick, just too much iron. Too many high chirps, just mentally exhausting after a while. But for some deep coin hunting with a little less iron, Racer all the way. Two very different machines, 19khz to 14khz tells part of the story.
