I was hunting an old town park a short time ago that ALMOST netted me a "grand slam" (close only counts in horseshoes).---I ended up the day with (1) 1857 Seated Liberty quarter--(1) Seated Liberty dime--(5) Barber dimes--(3) Mercs--(1) Buffalo nickel--(14) wheaties and a lot of clad.---Thought this was really strange but I COULD NOT come up with that lowly silver Rosie to "save my life" to make up the grand slam.---The park held both old & new coins--ya just never know!---Not complaining & I had a ball--just thought it was really strange.----------Del

Not really as strange as you may think.

The Merc's were minted for about twice as many years as the silver Rosies.

I haven't counted recently, but my Merc to silver Rosie ratio is probably 6 to 1.

If I ever have a day like yours it will be time to celebrate!

sharpshooter-----The "strange" that I was referring to is the fact that whenever I find 2 or 3 Mercs, I almost ALWAYS can come up with at least 1 silver Rosie.------You are "fairly" close to correct in your length of mintages of the 2 coins (Mercurys & Roosevelts).-------Mercurys-1916 thru 1945 (30 yrs.)--total mintage, 2,679,032------Roosevelts-1946 thru 1964 (19 yrs.)--total mintage, 6,615,451-----per cent of Mercurys to Roosevelts, 63.3%.------Our ratio of Mercury to Roosevelt finds (recoverys) in the last 7 1/2 yrs. since we started keeping records has been 1.15 Mercs to every Rosie.------Thanks for your response.----Luv ur hat AND BEARD---don't shave it off NO MORE!!!! (earlier post). --------Regards, Del
