New spot.
9 silver, including these three (Oh yer eyes ain't foolin' ya, that is a 1923-S Standing Liberty Quarter!)
2 IH's and 33 wheats. My arms are ready to fall off.
I know, the picture is big, but I wanted you to see the 23-S.
Enjoy! HH, Mike

$475 for FINE grade according to PCGS.
That is one sweet find! I take it you like the wot coil?
Neal

Man WOT a GREAT coin!!! <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin"> I would get that one slabbed ASAP!!! I'll bet it grades higher than Fine! Now tell us all the details...how deep, what kind of site and so on!

The site is part of an old picnic grove. I used the EX2 in conductive, iron mask -12, deep on, fast off, with the WOT.
These coins were deep. I had measured a wheatie at 8 inches nearby. The standin lady was the first one out of the hole. Signal was erratic, but solid from one angle.
After I retrieved her, I went back into the hole with Uniprobe, and there was another target. It turned out to be a lead seal of some type (no identifying marks) with rusty iron points sticking out of both ends.
Went back into the hole with the probe again, and way down there was another signal. Dug a chunk out, and there was the Barber Quarter! Ooooo, baby, I was smilin'. The Barber was actually a little deeper.
At the time, I did not realize the 1923-S quarter was a key date/mint. I was so happy to get two quarters like that in one hole. And we all know how often Std. Lib's have legible dates.
I meant to try out my new Platypus today, but I never got 'round tuit.

very sweet finds mike...i live in highland park. lemme know if you want to meet up some time.

Congrats Mike!!
Absolutely awesome SLQ. I collect that series and have been lucky enough to find 11 so far, only 1 with no date. That 23-S is by far the best I have ever seen dug for such a key date that is known for being weakly struck. I would grade that guy between a VF30 and XF, so you're holding about a $780 - $900 coin.
Congratulations again- Great find!
Jeff
