Rain canceled my beach hunt today after about half an hour and the retrieval of a few crusty modern coins. On the way back home the rain stopped so headed for a small out of the way Tot Lot I spotted a while back.

I don't usually hunt Tot Lots as I really prefer hunting sites were I have more of a chance of finding older coins. As assumed I didn't come up with any old coins but did enjoy the easy digging and topped it off with a little piece of sterling to boot.:detecting:

Don't dismiss tot lots too quickly. I have found quite a few old coins in tot lots. I'm guessing they were good luck coins or maybe taken for show and tell and then lost. Most of my gold and silver jewelry finds come from the playgrounds too (I don't live anywhere near a beach).

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I'm willing to consider all possibilities lately, the gas prices have been keeping me much closer to home lately.
