Things are a little slow so I thought I would add a littl bit of humor.
Ever notice how guys like to change things? Here in the US, we love to alter our vehicles, some more than others. On some, we change the grills, or maybe the tires and rims. We may add different running boards to the SUV's, or trucks, or fancy seat covers.
Regardless of how small the change, we just can't leave well enough alone.
So, what does this have to do with PI detectors? Nothing really, except we can't leave them alone either.
It seems we will change coils, or maybe try a voltage regulator. Different headphones are a must also. The more technical we are, the greater the changes involved. We might try using a different mounting technique for the control unit, or even a different type of rod, such as using a S handle instead of a straight one.
Scuff plates for the coils are usually a must if they are available.
If we are really gutsy, we may send the unit in for a crystal change so it will work at different frequencies.
Of course, we will join the coil of the month club and try about every new size, shape and type available. In some cases, well will try to match to cost of the machine to the cost of all the coils we have.
And so the list goes on. Now, what brought this post on? Well, another post on a different forum got my attention. Basically, that post stated they don't modify their machines to do what they want.

Are they using a stock factory coil and stock factory headphones, or are they using an external amp, or any of the dozens of other things available? My guess their setup is modded some way or another.
So, the truth is, it is really just a matter of just how much of a mod we want or can do, and not whether a mod is done or not.
The fact is, modifying boy toys is fun.
