I've Come To The Conclusion That I Need A Clean Sweep Coil

I just can't decide if I want a 4 or 5 pin one.

My signature is current with the detectors that I now own. I plan on thinning the arsenal some.

Any suggestions to help me with my decision will be most appreciated.

Tabman,
I would get a 5 pin to go with all the Umax detectors you have. Even with thinning the herd, you will have more umax detectors than anything else. I have not seen anyone posting about using a clean sweep on a Vaquero.

tabman,

Not sure they have 4 pin (HOT) CS instock at Tesoro............a few weeks ago I called to see if is being made & in stock (they seem to be having a issue in production (parts or machinery)), at the time they said no & they would'nt comit to a date when they would be back in manifacture/stock.

I have a Vaquero & would like to get a 4 pin CS for it...............guess its not in the cards yet.

That should make a dicsion 4 or 5 pin easyier  .

Tabman, I can't believe you don't already have one. 4 pin is pretty rare, you might have a hard time getting one unless you pay around 300 pounds from the UK. So get the 5 pin version. IMO, the cleansweep coil should be standard on all Tesoros. This coil has given me my best and most good finds, so far. By far.

Tabman, I agree you should get the 5 pin version. It's great when covering large, fairly clean areas.

I guess I should call Rusty Henry and see if he has one. He told me a while back that the Clean Sweep coil needs to be calibrated or tuned to my detector to get the best performance out of it. I have been worried that it might be a little to heavy for me to swing all day long. Hopefully, I will be doing more digging and less swinging when using it.

With the new lite style over the old heavy expoxy one, it should'nt be to bad. It should'nt cut your swing time down much.

A Dumb question but will that CS coil Discriminate and Notch like the Concentrics?

Hey Tabman. I know this is off topic, but what detector do you think you'll be using it with? Out of all your Tesoros, which one is your main rig. I like coin shooting and was tempted to buy a Golden Umax by your youtube video, but I'm stuck between it and a Vaq. Thanks!

I don't have a go to favorite Tesoro. I like them all. If I'm detecting soccer fields that are fairly clean, I will grab either the Silver or the Conquistador. If I get real serious and want to find small chains that have been passed over, I'll grab the Compadre. If I need good depth or go to a location that might need a detector with a ground balance, I would grab either the Eldorado or Outlaw. If I need extreme depth and need to use a lot of discrimination in real trashy areas when I'm searching for silver rings and silver coins, I would grab the Vaquero with the 5.75 coil attached. It gets extreme depth and separation using the 5.75 concentric coil. Also the 5.75 concentric coil walks right though those stinky ole rusty pry caps that give DD coils fits. Now if I'm in a real trashy area that might harbor some lost gold rings, I would grab the Golden and use the notch feature.

I don't have clue on which detector I would want to use the Clean Sweep coil with.:)

I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. The Golden is a super detector and gets good depth.

I can't just pick ONE Tesoro. So my advice to you is to buy both detectors.

If you are in central Ohio , you DON'T want to consider a CS coil..If you do, use the Vaquero, see my post air distance with a clean sweep coil.. and go to the numbers(air distances) with the C/S coil on my detector...Mr Bill thinks they are excellent, and they did surprise me..Figure 20 percent loss in reasonably mild soil..The one thing to remember is that in tall grass you can get down somewhat using a round coil, with a CS ,you can't...Having said that, go for the distances. I've been around a long time and the numbers I give, are the ones I got.. If I hit a dime at three inches (in air), or 8 inches, those are the numbers.. If I sell a detector, an air distance will be posted. You should be able to duplicate it come lava or a flood..I have one detector, the seller said a cent at 10 inches....come on, I can't even come close with a large cent..With Fall coming on, I'll be clean sweeping until the ground freezes, or they shovel me under..
