Cant seem to find anything worth a tinkers cuss except clad, and even that is getting scarce...way over due for a silver ring, hoping the warm weather brings folks to the beach, and I hope they are wearing jewelry, carrying dollar coins, and careless. On a good note, schools are out soon, so a fellow can slam them during the week...keep posting those pictures, Brothers! A guy needs inspiration! HH

Silver is getting scarce in my neck o' the woods too. I go to the old places still. I just slow down and work the area hard. Dig more questionable signals...... junk:) and occasionally get lucky. But its been a age since I found a silver quarter or larger.............grrrrrrrrrrrr

Hmmm, thats not good...even the soccer fields are not showing any promise...some of the totlots where I left some "tell pennies" are swept so clean, theres not even a scrap of wire, or a blue jean rivet!
So theres some competition afoot. Its gonna havta be a "run and gun" summer, first to the spot, and quick with the wand, maybe sweep some creek bottoms once the bugs and water go down a little. I'll check out the beach crowd this weekend to see if anyone is even wearing bling...the gangbangers have been shooting the inner city up every night, and its too warm to even get in there early now, everybodys still out walking around, once the bullets are flying, so is the jewelry, so its tempting...one thing, this Fisher F70 likes to go fast, keeping the coil 6" above ground really lets a fellow sweep up fresh drops in a gosh darn hurry! Give that a try if you are in an area where a carnival just left or something... Well, I hope somebody finds some heavy gold this weekend, and I hope its me! HH

Im frustrated without finding the really old stuff. Im convinced the old cellar wholes' long forgotten before even metal detectors where invented, are best for that and I have several new old ones lined up for the fall. At a large church estate I havent reported on yet , i got 9 silver dimes (mercs and rosies) but no silver quarters, nor many quarters at all. I believe some one inexperienced went through and just took the biggest signals. I also found about 40 wheat backs there but no Indian heads. It made sense when i read the history, they purchased the estate for the pastor house about 1940. The other day I got lucky at an old school house, got 4 silvers in one whole, all Rosies, all from the late fifties, and obviously nothing to do with the school house. "Although did find a Mercury 1920, and a 1920 wheat back, which i think where from the school house days. Otherwise it was picked clean. Im up to twenty silvers for the season so far, been extremely lucky and have put in many hours.- they are out there, keep looking CO

I go to some pretty nasty gangbanger areas..........cause they are the oldest parts of the city. Even here in Idaho we have that crap. I find weekday mornings to be the best. But if they are shootin in your area.......stay the hell out. No coin worth that. Although, because its so bad where I go, they are always lots of officers and the police station is located right in the middle of this banger infested area. Good planning by the city:)

drugs are everywhere!..it's a "stink" to be sure!..
gotta keep "beatin' the ground up!..the white metal shows eventually!
just sayin!

Averages are fickle. My finds are up the last two months. I am sure things will even out over time. Hang in there and things will pick up. I cannot believe any place is getting totally cleaned out. But, it might be good to restrategize. Look for new types of places to hunt. Our local schools and parks are rubber matting the once sandy playground areas- tot lots. I've been looking for new places to hunt and started checking out road side pull outs where fruit and vegetable stands used to be. I found my first and so far only Merc last week just outside the chain link fence of a vacant lot on in old section of town.
A few months ago I got discouraged and tried CRH. Now that was a dry hole! I do have $40 in clad half dollars now- if there is a sudden shortage, I am set!

That's pretty much the standard around here, too. The hobby aint what it used to be....

When detecting becomes a drag, with nothing turning up and no new places to go - I go fishing. After a break from coil swinging, things look new.

Yeah! Before I started this addiction, I fished pretty much most of my spare time...I will take a break from the wand for the salmon when they start to run up the channel in Aug, but only for a few hours in the morning, then back to the quick broom. I'm still out hitting it every day/minute possible, and refining my technique. Up again early today to go out and check for fresh drops where there was a craft sale yesterday, and a beach or two, plus, there is a school construction site at an old ball diamond that needs a good look...Any pursuit sport has its challenges to stay motivated, but I've been through all that when I was young. Use to tell my boys, "You cant catch a fish in the living room" you just get up and grab the gear and go, so I will! HH
Mud .

I'd like to add that while I may take a break from detecting, the F70 is never far from hand. Even while fishing, it will be behind the seat of the truck. If it is not, I am looking....
Often while out fishing, Ill see some place or another that needs detecting - and it starts again.

My dry spell has been long as well. I think since Ive been able to detect this year with my new F5 the most I've got is two clad quaters, and a couple penny's. The weather out here is horrid and only just this past week did it FINALLY stop raining. And whats worse than that, I've discovered to my utter horror and dismay, that all the parks I go to where there are grass fields as well as totlots, the ground is not aeriated at all, so its basically hard as rock. The only way its not hard as rock is when its pouring down rain, then its mudpies and just as impossible to dig and recover coins in. To top it all off, went to the beach this weekend for fathers day, spent a good 4 hours swinging in what I thought would be a good stretch as there was plenty of evidence of bonfires the night before, and for my trouble I found a nail, a bottle cap, and a washer. 4 hours of swinging for basically nothing. It's got me quite depressed, espically when trying to justify the cost of my detector.. But I keep truckin on hoping and hoping. Going camping this weekend, gonna try there as well.
