James(ND) and Rick a question on sensitivity settings

kickback

New member
What would you recommend as a setting for sensitivity on the SE up here in the gumbo clay? Thanks Bill

Trash and Iron kickback. If the ground seems to be fairly junk free, then you should be able to run the Sensitivity up around 28. I would use Semi-Auto because if the ground is Gumbo Clay like you say it is, you could get falsing off of any present Iron due to the years of it sitting in the Clay and rusting away. I usually just keep my Explorer XS on 22 Semi-Auto with Fast On, Deep Off and have no problems with finding Coins at Depths of 10" or more. You could use Deep On, Fast Off if the location is pretty clean but it will be your decision since you only know what the ground conditions are for that site.

If the ground is junky, then I would suggest to have a lower Sensitivity, about what I use normally, and work the area Slow, possibly with a Smaller Coil. If there is Keepers there at that site, you will find them when going Slower than your usual Swing Speed. I would also use Fast On, Deep Off if there is a lot of Junk also.

Hope this is what your looking for and if not, feel free to PM me with any other questions you may have. Good Luck and HH to you.:detecting:
