The bullet with one band is a three ringer that has the grooves carved out . I do not no if you can see in the picture but you can barely see the middle groove and some knive shave marks on the side of bullet.
 
Nice finds! Someday I may find some cool relics like that. What do the bullets ring up at on the X-terra. My parents live close to a battlefield so I want to detect in their woods and see what I might find.
 
that's great....relic and bullets being far from my coin and jewelry experiences,why carve a bullet?is it to shorten it or no wood to whittle..

most are 30 or above. Revolvers are usually 18 or above. It all depends on the type of bullet and caliper. I run in two tones all metal and dig all high tones.
 
Soldiers carved bullets to kill time in camp mostly.
 
I hunt relics all winter. The last two years have been warmer , it makes it really nice.
 
Thanks where I'm am in NC we've have had Revolutionary and Civil War battles come through our parts. I just want to make sure I don't miss something.
