A couple of early morning thoughts and ramblings on the T-2......
Like they say on the **** commercials, what you see on the screen is what is IN the ground. With the T-2, it's also what the ground IS. One glance at the T-2 screen and with nothing more than a quick flip of the trigger switch, you have the following information available, starting at the top of the screen:
1. The discrimination VDI range of numbers from 0-99 and their relation to the second-row "common target" icons.
2. When a signal is received, the arrow indicator tells you where along the VDI/icon scale the target falls, and according to either a small or large arrow, the relative signal strength of the target.
3. The VDI numeric reading itself.
4. The Fe304 content or "strength" of the ground mineralization.
5. The current battery condition.
6. The mode of operation and last menu setting used.
7. Other "messages" according to the operation of the machine, GB and overload prompts.
8. Pushing the trigger switch forward, you immediately get the ground balance/ground phase point upon pumping the coil a couple of times, indicating the "type" of ground you are dealing with.
9. Pulling the trigger switch shifts into all-metal mode and changes the VDI numeric reading into an estimated depth reading in inches.
10. Pushing the menu button while still holding the trigger shifts the operating frequency of the machine through 7 different frequency points to adjust for external RF interferrence.
11. Of course too, after scrolling to a desired point in the menu, the VDI numbers change to indicate the specific tuning point of that particular menu option.
12. For all metal mode, you can tune the sensitivity independently from the discrimination sensitivity, the "hum" or threshold level, or the manual ground balance point to a scale of 500:1, much more precision than is offered on most manual GB machines.
13. For discrimination mode, you can tune sensitivity independently from the all-metal sensitivity, the progressive discrimination point along the VDI range from 0-80 (high coin range up to 99 remains accepted regardless of disc. setting), and the number/type of tones according to the 6 different options.
Pretty good range of versatility working off of a single LCD screen I would say.
